Recently, I decided to take the DET (Duolingo English Test). If you’re not familiar with it, the DET is a standardized English test accepted by many universities worldwide, including prestigious institutions like Yale and Harvard! It serves as an alternative to the TOEFL or IELTS and is much more affordable 😉. I took the test in 2020, but now, in 2024, I can see it has changed significantly, including new sections and tests for evaluating your skills. One of these is the well-known “fill-in-the-blanks” section.
In this section, you are presented with a sentence containing an incomplete word, and your task is to complete the sentence with the correct word. The DET provides several example sentences, but these are limited. If you want more practice, you’ll need to find a good website with hundreds of exercises or create your own tool 🥳.
Here, I have developed a tool that uses GPT under the hood to create 5 random sentences every time. You can ask for a hint and the definition. The tool is simple, but it can help you practice your English skills. Give it a try! 🚀
